That is the thing, trust. Who do you trust more? The mother who birthed you or your partner in relationship? Of course it is a hard one, every one who is in 'love' expects this to last a lifetime. No one wants to think negatively about it.

Aside from all the expectancies and love for the people involved there is the other side - selfless. You are giving your own safety and probably life in order to save a person. That alone is significant.
